Tire drop crank not lined up.
We purchased a used 2014 303RLS this spring and while getting ready for a trip noticed the spare was upside down to check the air pressure. When I attempted to lower the tire with the crank lever I realized that the factory hole for inserting the crank lever is off by at least 4" making it impossible to lower the spare without putting out the slide so I can get the crank inside the frame.
The only solution I can see is cutting a new hole in the slide to align with the crank. Has anybody else experienced this? I really don't want to cut a new hole as I"d also need to find a plate to cover the existing hole.

Maybe you could find a 12v motor and make some type of socket coupling and then you wont need to worry about using the crank. If it were me that's what I would do and permanently mount it with a remote switch.

I remember hearing about this from time to time back in 2015. I think most just drilled new hole (not sure what was done with old hole, if anything) but as FT suggests there are other more creative options.

As Jim shared there were some reports of this in the early years. 4" however - WOW that's a new record !
Mine and others are off about an inch or so. We can still use the existing hole but many folks have opted to use a socket and ratchet by simply reaching under the lower body panel as there is plenty of clearance. Others have opted to use a swivel socket/extension and ratchet combination to still use the exiting lower body panel hole. I have done this using a socket and ratchet but also using my battery powered drill to speed the process.

I have some what the same problem. I don't have a hole as the crank is almost under the metal skirt. I'm thinking about cutting a notch so I can access it better.

I just go under as that is easier than trying to make a new hole. The crank turns so easy you can turn it by hand.

Thanks for the tips. I might try the easiest at first as Dan had mentioned and find a socket. As well as these units are made, it amazed me that something as simple as aligning a hole would be could be screwed up so badly as mine is a good 5" off center.

How about a long socket wrench extension and a universal joint?
On a side note, I just found I could run a small chain up and over the winch and attach to the spare tire wheel. This prevents wheel falling should the winch cable brake. Also added a lock for theft protection.

I'd remove the plastic trim ring from the hole, cut a new hole in the correct location and install the trim ring in the new hole. Then I'd buy a pair of rectangular reflectors, put one over the old hole and one on the opposite side of the trailer. Nobody would be the wiser.
My first thought was to take the RVIA seal by the entrance door that claims what quality these are built with and use it to cover the old hole.
I guess they just eyeball everything then start drilling or cutting, no tape measures or templates to be found on the assembly line for sure. My right side fender isn't centered on the pair of tires. When it hits a bump the forward tire contacts the fender and has worn it away somewhat. I just trimmed the part that contacts the tire and called it good. Kind of hard to relocate the entire fender.2015 328M

On our Solitude they got the spare tire hole in the right place on the side fender but didn't cut any crank holes for the manual orverride of the sides. So in the event that we ever have to move a R&P slide manually, I'll have to crawl under the side skirt and use a socket/ratchet.
