    Metal Valve Stems on Imagine

Has anyone put metal valve stems on their Imagine wheels. I just bought a 2500RL and want to put
TST-Flow-Through sensors on the wheels which require metal valve stems. Hope I van get a brand and part number for the stems.

    Thanks, Tom

I bought these on amazon, but haven't put them on yet. I was going to put them on as soon as I change tires. I liked them because the nut is extended, and our (or at least my) wheels have a recess where the valve stem goes that would require a thin wall socket at best to access the nut on other stems.

Also, in the meantime, I rigged my tpms sensors on the rubber stems with some closed cell foam (pool noodle). Keeps the stem from flexing while rolling. Probably not the best thing to do, but it has worked for me.

What size are your wheels? How soon will you be installing the metal valve stems? I look forward to hearing if they fit.

I’ve used Xtra Seal 17-428 on our current and previous TT. 1.50” high and 0.453” holes. They’ve worked very well but seem to be a little hard to find at the moment. I got mine from EBay but don’t remember the seller.

What size of wheels do you have? Do you know the brand of your wheels?

Mine are Lionshead Sumec wheels 14x5.5. I think you’ll find that stem holes are generally 0.453” or 0.625”.

Here’s another thread that may help you

I know there 15", not sure of the width. As soon as someone gets the tires in stock I'll be able to give you an update. That seems to be an issue right now.

If you add the metal stems for your TPMS, I suggest you get the wheels balanced at the same time. As COVID broke, our travel plans changed, were cancelled, so I had the local Fountain Tire balance the wheels. We have travelled about 1000Km and there is a big difference in stuff not moving around. Maybe worth it.
