Hitch in truck ready to pick up new trailer!

It's been a whirlwind couple weeks since the wife and I purchased a reflections 323bhs while in California for a conference. I have put the 2012 F150 up for sale, purchased a 2014 f250 6.7l platinum edition which I love!

Today the B and W companion hitch was installed and tomorrow when the kids get out of school the pilgrimage back to California begins!

Our initial plans are to stay in Shoshone, California and check out Death Valley from there we have 3-4 days to enjoy our camper on the way home!

    Exciting stuff.

Congradulations and welcome to the family. I have the same tow vehicle as you and love the truck and the camper.

Hey Stephen & Nikki, I noticed you are pulling the Momentum with I suppose a golf cart in the garage with your F-250. I am considering going to a heavier (than a Reflection 337RLS) 5th wheel. I have a 2015 F-350 SRW but was concerned about towing capacity. Are there any problems pulling with your set up. This is my first time on GD owners forum.

I fully intend on putting airbags on but how much of a difference have you noticed using them?

    Larry,

The difference between the two trucks are really an extra leaf in the rear. Your Total would be 16,100 #were mine is 15,900#. I did add the Hellwig Sway Bar in mine to keep the rear end planted. (I added this after I bought my travel trailer and it made a difference) i went with the M-Class because I didn't want to over load my truck. My Momnetum is 13,400# dry and GVWR is 16,100#. But the big Momentums are up in the 18,000#+ weight range. I feel my truck handles this very well and I added the airbags....

....which these helped with getting the camper to ride level and keep my headlights out the tree tops. Ford has tried to make a smoother riding 3/4 ton truck, but in doing so, it does sag (I saw a 2016 Chevy 3500 pulling a box trailer and it too was sagging in the rear). So, adding the airbags help with the ride but it doesn't give you more towing capacity.

Also @Jthamilton, I installed my airbags, B&W turnover ball, Mid-Ship Fuel Tank replacement and Hellwig Sway bar myself. I am just a weekend mechanic, I can turn a wrench and read instructions. It takes me longer then the instruction say it will take, but I know I did it right and if something goes wrong, I can fix it. So, if you can turn a wrench and read instructions, putting airbags on isn't that bad if you search YouTube for a user "EpicCowlick" he has a video on how to install airbags.
