So we decided to bring our Solitude home.

We were going to leave it at the dealer until we could haul it up to our property, but that was just no good. so I did some measuring and decided that it would fit in our RV parking spot, but with little room to spare. We can open the living room slides so we have full access to that. we can open the rear bedroom slide so we have full access to that. however the kitchen and dining room slides can only open a little. We can walk around the island but cant go from the kitchen to the bedroom. So to get to the bedroom we have to go out the front door turn sideways and slide along between the trailer and the garage and then go in the backdoor. but hey at least its home and we can work on it. I found a great deal on a used Onan 5500 Lp generator and I got that installed. I'm working on getting our Sirius satellite radio installed, I'm going to install that in the bedroom so we can use the outside speakers, the tricky part will be getting the antenna wire from the roof to the radio. (just hate drilling holes in a new trailer) Sure is nice to have it here, we spent the night in it last weekend and we found the bed to be very comfortable, and we watched a movie in it as well. but I am going to have to do some upgrades on the sound system. So far everything is working great, we have ran the fridge, the furnace, the fireplace and all works good.

Dave, I'm getting ready to install an Onan in our Reflection and was wondering if the firebox was a prefab you purchased or something you made? Your Solitude probably came prepped so the wiring was simple but ours will need to be run. Also the 5500 wont fit I don't think so I am planning on the 4000 (3600w) which will serve our purposes fine.

Any information or pictures would be helpful.

    Thanks

Yes Poppy, we paid extra to have our solitude made generator ready. This included the fire box, the switch and hour meter inside to start it, and the transfer switch at the power center. I had to remove the fire box in order to get the generator in position. the floor was already prepped with cutouts for oil and filter access and exhaust access. They had an Onan wire harness ran in there and it plugged right in to the harness on the generator for starting. and an electrical box with wires to connect the 110 volt to the trailer. I made my own exhaust at work and installed it. I just need to hook it up to our propane tank on our lot when we get it up there.

I wish GD would address the lack of a decent A/V system in the Solitudes. Every time I see one with the Furrion system I just cringe. Overall the 379FL still on my top two list . My deadline to make up my mind is approaching.

Andy&Dom, I found a small shop just south of Salt Lake City that sells and repairs generators. They had the Onan 5500 LP that was used but factory refurbished at the Onan factory. I got it for 2800. It looks great but I cant run it until I get the trailer up to our property and connect it to our big propane tank on our lot.
