    Back up camera issue

My new 320X came pre-wired for a Back up Cam. I installed a unit from Rear View Safety and it works great. But when I backed the rig into the storage building and shut off the battery dis-connect, I noticed that the power on indicator on the camera was still ON! I had to pull the Battery cables to get it to shut off. Your cameras could be on too! A call to GD told me "that is how they do it,hard wired to battery", My dealer (as well as friends) say "no way that is normal" and the camera should be rewired into the running lights. Who is right?

If it is hardwired to the battery, can you find the wire that goes to the camera and place a switch in it at the battery? On my 355TH, the level system and the lights to the generator compartment still have power even when the main disconnect is turned off. That power is coming from a separate fused wire connected to the battery.

If it would be wired to the running lights, you would have to have the lights on to use the camera...

    Hey Jim,

Did you figure out your issue with your backup camera? Out of curiosity, which RVS camera did you buy/install - the wired unit or wireless?

Are you able to use the camera while you're moving down the road (to check for clearance before changing lanes) or does the picture drop out while in motion?

Best of luck figuring out the power issue.

The wiring is designed for a rear view camera you can use all of the time. To think of it as a backup camera is incorrect.

Frank, I guess we need to refer to it as a rear view camera

Well I spoke out of turn here. It is supposed to be setup as a rearview camera but the Furrion product is nothing but a disappointment. They now call product FRC12TA-BL a backup camera and it works for that purpose but going down the road it cannot maintain a signal and I doubt that their adding an antenna to the monitor on product FOS48TA-BL is any great improvement. I have and $80 backup camera that works as well as the Furrion. If they put the Furrion mounting bracket on 150,000 Rv's as Furrion says on their website then there are going to be 149,999 disappointed users. Will be looking for another product.

I installed a Todi Bros Rearview camera on mine. It works most of the time.

Does that mean that it works most of the time at highway speeds?
