    Slide ripping hole in floor?

On our new 2020 Reflection 311BHS, the bunkhouse slide seems to be ripping a hole in the flooring. Has anyone experienced something like this? How were you able to fix it?Click image for larger version.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring problem on many models. The fix - call GD and tell them what's happening.

My 2021 Reflection 303RLS is brand new and hasn’t even made it out of my pole barn yet to camp. My wife sends me this photo while I am at work. There are two spots like this where the vinyl floor has been pitted/torned. Both are located about 6-8” on the outside edge of where the dining room slide out is fully in. Looks like I will be making a call to GD tomorrow. No way I missed this on my walk through at the dealership. There must be something rubbing on the underside of the slide out or something was stuck under it when I opened it.

Seems to be a common issue - especially with the new flush slides (no rollers). After you get the floor remedied, consider these:

Those are just a temporary, right? You lay it down where the rollers contact the floor. Then remove when slide outs are out.

My 2013 Forest River had slide out skis to protect the vinyl floor. In fact one came loose and I had to take it in to get it repaired. I am surprised that Grand Design just allows the rollers to roll on the vinyl floor. The ski on my Forest River looked like this.

Correct on the use of the Slide Out Slickers. The "skis" on our flush slide (dinette) in the Solitude look much like the ones in your link. They still leave some scuff marks on the vinyl flooring sometimes, so we use the Slide Out Slickers when we pull that slide in.

Okay, spoke with GD and they told me to take it somewhere to have it looked at. I called my mobile repair guy. Unfortunately, he doesn’t do warranty work because companies have not paid him in the past. He told me to have someone open the slide out slowly and make sure there wasn’t a screw or sheered off piece of wood sticking of the underside of the slide out. I had my daughter open it up and I checked it with a flashlight and couldn’t find anything. It must of be a small rock or debris that was stuck under it which scratched the vinyl floor while opening it. I have a vinyl floor repair guy coming this week to fix it and will send the invoice to GD.

Meanwhile, I bought this to put under both the living room and kitchen slide outs to protect the floor. They have a foam backing and lift the slide out about 1/2”. I figure this along with a good vacuum job should fix any future problems.

If your mobile repair guy is willing to do the work, and you call GD ahead of time and get the approval to use him, you can pay your repair guy, and submit payment for reimbursement from GD. Be aware, using a mobile repair, GD will not pay the service call charge, only the actual repair charge.

That is what GD said on the phone. I think he was trying to save me a trip charge. The vinyl repair guy repairs all types of vinyl damage, which is mostly homes. So I plan to submit my receipt to GD. But thanks for the feedback. GD is a really great company. I would have had to haul my Forest River two hours away for warranty work and they would of had it for months.

they have removed the rollers from under the slides? i don't think i like that. so now every piece of debris is gonna catch the slide.
