Turning Point Pin Box and Don't Use it?

Intrigued, would like to hear feedback from those who have a Turning Point pin box but don't use it. In other words, you keep it locked out all the time.

As I have a long bed I don't use it - no need to.

    295RL, towing with a 2016 F250 Platimun - so I really didn't need to in the beginning.
But, I just moved into a new RV storage area that's pretty tight to get in and out of. So I removed the bolts, installed the proper wedge for the hitch and it seemed to really help with maneuvering.
I don't think about jack knifing now, just watching the swing out of the truck. Sure do wish they installed a grease fitting to lube the Tapered Roller Bearings, I guess since it doesn't pivot much its not really gone wear out the grease.

Bought the truck used and it already had a PullRight slider in it. Turns out the wedge for the Turning Point is perfect for the PullRight (like they used PullRight as the model). I did not even have to buy a wedge.

I find the wedge will loosen up over time. Keep your torque wrench handy.

To support your point. I recently drove home from the dealer 2.5 hours and found not only the wedge loose but one entire side of bolts (four of them) attaching pin box to trailer. Sigh... RVs are NEVER a set-it-and-forget-it kinda thing and NEVER trust someone else... you need to personally verify all things of importance and safety. Cheers!

I haven't used it on my 295RL yet either. I will once I get the bolt hole straightened out. On my first pull I cross threaded one of the wedge holes in the pin and still working on getting that issue resolved.

I’ve used it unlocked and locked. Not much difference so I just locked it out to avoid another point of failure. That’s a lot of force transferring through that single roller bearing.
