Furnace not keeping up in 40 degree weather, running constantly, only heating to 66

I have a 2020 31MB and the furnace does not seem to keep up. We have had a couple of nights in the low 40's, high 30's and it can't heat the camper above 66 or 67 degrees even though the thermostat is set to 70. It runs 24/7. The bathroom is the only room that is really warm. There is hot air coming out but it does not feel as forceful as I remember but it is a new camper and I only tested the furnace once back in February so my memory might not be accurate. Checking with a facebook group for this model most people say that the furnace is too powerful and roasts them out and can easily heat into the 70's when the temps are near zero. We have some colder weather coming up so I am beginning to get concerned. I have "vent pillows" in two of the roof vents and reflectix in most of the windows and it isn't helping.

There's a good chance you have heat ducting that is eiither kinked/compressed or a heat duct that got disconnected from the vent or the furnace itself.

That was my initial thought too. I looked in the basement last night and removed the access wall. I didn't see anything that was obviously detached or kinked. I did find that the duct work going into the front bedroom didn't have an end cap was open so I taped that up with aluminized tape and thought my problems were fixed. No real improvement from last night to tonight. What I wouldn't give to have my thermal imaging camera with me right now but I am 2,000 miles from home.

Other than an issue with duct lines in not sure what else it could be. Only other thought is an issue with the blower motor of the furnace itself, or a slightly blocked air intake. A thermal imagine camera sure would be helpful in your case.

After more troubleshooting, I found that the furnace burner is cycling off and on while the blower keeps going. It is on for about 1:45 and then off for 2 min. I had a service tech come look at it and he thinks that the burner needs to be realigned and he wanted to leave that for the dealer. Can't find any dealers nearby that can get us in soon. Some are scheduling for Oct!

Do you have the fan set to Automatic ? if not it will run continually.

Something similar happened to us and it was the high limit temp switch. It would fire and run but would prematurely shutoff the flame then refire a few minutes later. It was completely reproducible as far as time on/off. It is a relatively easy diy job.

There is no option for auto vs. high/low on heat.
@Justa5th has a good suggestion with the high limit switch. Also, what is your elevation? The gas furnaces can have some quirky behavior above 5,000 ft. (ours did in northern New Mexico and in Colorado once). I would still suspect the high limit switch, though.

I would bet it's the temp switch in the furnace - shuts off the flame until it "cools" and then reignites, fan does not shut off. Depending on your model furnace some are easy to change and others you need to pull the furnace.....

We just bought a 31MB and have the same issue. Did you resolve this?
