    Storing Solitude 369RL

With COVID 19 happening I’m not using my RV. A friend and mechanic suggested storing it with the tires off the ground. Comments.

I don't know about "off the ground", but we store our rig with the weight off the tires, using the jacks. Tires are still on the ground, just not bearing much weight.

You will get a lot of opinions on this subject, as with many, but go straight to Goodyear for instance, who happen to make good trailer tires, and this is the answer to your question. I agree with "livinthelife" taking some weight off of the tires with the jacks is a good compromise but not to the point of lifting the tires entirely off of the ground. Cheers!

"First, it’s ideal to remove the weight from the tires. This can be accomplished by resting the car/RV on jack-stands or similar load bearing devices under the chassis/frame of the vehicle. If you’re unable to remove the weight from the tires, it is recommended to have the vehicle completely unloaded, so only the minimum weight will be placed on the tires.

If the vehicle is planned to be stored for long periods of time, plan to move the vehicle periodically (at least once every 3 months or once every 30 days for vehicles with high-performance tires featuring an overlay) during storage so that the tires aren’t subjected to a constant state of deflection affecting only one part of the tire. This periodic movement will help avoid temporary flat spotting that can develop from sitting static too long."
