    No more TV in Bedroom

So got to thinking that we would like to have a tv in the basement so that on a nice afternoon we could sit outside and watch the odd sporting event, Decided that the tv in the bedroom of our 310GK would probably never get used, so why not put it in the basement. So then had to decide what to do with the space above the dresser where the tv is, as I knew full well having several holes in the wall or an empty tv mount would not pass inspection from the supreme commander, remembered that on the Reflection 337 that there is a cabinet above the dresser, so got out the measuring tape and came up with a cabinet design. did some research and found out that the tv mounting plate is good to handle a tv up to 50 lbs. So with my design and knowing just how much weight I could get away with for a cabinet, I headed to my workshop. when all said and done the cabinet came in at just over 20 lbs and since we don't plan to put heavy items in it everything should be fine and it should not rip the wall panel from the studs. Stain is not a perfect match but as they say it's close enough for this gov"t worker!Click image for larger version.

Interesting idea and nice job. How did you mount the TV in the basement?

I guess you are not suppose to watch TV in the bedroom.

Well in our case, it was turned on when we bought the trailer to make sure it worked and hasn't been back on since then. So the cabinet seemed like a much better idea

Here are a few pics of the tv mount in the basement, decided to put it on the front wall as have things on the back wall that I did not want to move. Tv swings out good and locks when folded in, had some felt that we decided to put to good use making a cover for it to try and protect itClick image for larger version.

Nice idea with the articulating arm and I assume you have more solid framing support behind that thin wall in front ??

Also, you may want to provide better protection for that screen
(as in 1/4" plywood wt felt, strapped around the TV case) ??
Things can move around quite a bit in there especially, if and when, going off road.

ONLY poasible downside is when you want to sell or trade.
Lots of folks like a TV in bdrm.

    Happy Trails
