    30 amp breaker

    I suppose my
newest biggest problem is that when Suzy was vacuuming the trailer, after a few
minutes the 30 amp breaker would trip. I let it cool and then reset it, but it tripped again.
Of course I could shut the air conditioner down and there was no problem.
Even using the steam mop would trip the breaker. I was running the hot water heater
and fridge on electric so I suppose I could have run them on Propane, but then it
should be designed to at least run the Vacuum. What say you??

It’s just a limit of exceeding 30:amps. It’s the nature of the beast.

Our trailer is a 50:amp version. When we are connected to a 30 amp connection we are very cognizant of our electric usage. When running the air conditioner, refrigerator, and water heater on electric my wife has found out that she can’t run her hairdryer or microwave or she will trip the pedestal 30 amp breaker. What we usually do is switch the refrigerator and water heater to propane when we need to run other high current devices like the convection microwave.

We also have 2 AC units and only use one when on 30 amps.

My wife just added, even with 50 amp connection, she can’t run coffee pot and hair dryer at the same time or it trips the 15/amp GFCI since they are both on the same breaker.

It would do the same in your S&B house.... Just use a different outlet.

I cannot remember the last time I tripped a breaker in my house,
yet I thank you all so very much for the input. It's just 1 less thing
    for me to worry about.

I have a Combination Couch Recliner with vibrator and heating which
is just what I need, but it doesn't work well at all, Is this normal for
    something so new??
This couch has a swivel table attached to it. The table is too high
and far from the couch requiring me to sit at a weird angle which
is something I cannot do for long. Has anyone had the mounting
    arm altered?

A friend of mine is a maintenance guy 3 days a week at a local KOA. He says it's very common for the main breaker to trip no matter whether it's a 30 or 50 amp. He said the newer RVs use so much power it over taxes the older campground electrical systems.

If you think the breaker is weak you can replace it. It's a standard residential breaker, the WFCO manual lists several compatible ones.

Pretty common problem. Hosting at state parks I run into this quite a bit, 30 amp post, 50 amp RV's. Not all RV owners know how to dial back their electrical usage, they tend to forget about the other stuff that runs off of 120, like the converter. AMP usage adds up, then all of sudden you are over the circuit rating without realizing it. Well, it can take a good bit of overage without tripping, but that has a price. Over time, the circuit breaker gets got and the wire get hot, even the plug gets hot. They can really take a lot, but in the end, over drawing on a circuit has a price.

The wires start to melt and become weaker, causing more heat. The circuit breaker spring gets soft, causing quicker trips. I just replaced a burned out socket where the installer had used 10-12 gauge quick clips on 8 gauge wire, they made a nice fuse.

There’s a strong chance your campground isn’t supplying a full 120V, if that’s the case the amps will be increased, when they cross 30 amps the breaker pops.

We installed a progressive EMS surge protector this spring and the display shows the amps and volts. We’ve been at three campgrounds this summer where you can see the voltage sag. If your devices are asking for 3600 watts and as you start to load it up you can see the volts drop. The gauge will start will start at 120V and 3amps, then the AC comes on and it’s showing 112V and 17 amps. You then try to run the water heater, hair dryer etc and the volts will show 106 and amps 31. At this point our EMS cuts the power to protect the appliances. In your case the breaker is popping to protect the circuit. If you do have a voltage problem and this continues you may burn out your AC or other appliances.
