TPMS saved me and other observations

This week getting ready to leave a campsite I turned on my tpms monitor ahead of time as usual so it could go ahead and sync. While hooking up I heard a beeping coming from the truck cab. Looked at the monitor and it shows one trailer tire at 26 lbs. I went back and looked at the tire and it didn't "look" low. Got out my tire gauge and sure enough it was 26 lbs.

Went to put the spare on and two things jumped out at me:

1. The lug nuts holding the spare tire to the bracket are a different size than the ones on the trailer. Luckily I had a socket that fit the spare bracket ones.

2. You can't put the flat tire back on the spare tire bracket. It won't fit. I had to put in the doorway of the trailer.

This may not be new to others but it really surprised me.

Well, dang - that seems silly about the lugs on the spare tire carrier. Anyway to change them out to match the wheel stud size??

The good news is the TPMS did exactly what it was suppose to do.

We have used TPSM systems for the last three 5ers. They have saved our bacon 3 times. Well worth the price. I monitor all ten tires.

I noticed the different size lug nuts when we got ours but I didn't know that you can't put the flat back on the bracket.
