Newbie from Asheville

Hello!
My wife and I just purchased a 2021 Solitude 310GK-R and are so happy we have to sit on our hands to keep from clapping! This is the second 5ver in two years and is the size and make we have been wanting for some time now. We have a 2018 Ram 3500 with a 6.7 Cummins DRW 4x4 and are looking forward to many trips in the coming months and years. We camped 180 nights in 2019 but have been tied to home for most of 2020 due to the pandemic and elderly parents. Look forward to getting out and meeting new friends along the journey.

Welcome...my daughter and family live in Candler, work in Asheville. Beautiful area, my daughter and granddaughter love it. Will be looking for places to stay in area come late summer - any suggestions?

Hi Charlie,

Local to Asheville in late summer for FHU camping would be:
1)Mama Gerties Campground
2)KOA East Asheville (D Section)
3)Lake Powhatan State Park

A little further out FHU would be:
1)River Valley Campground in Cherokee, NC
2)Hot Springs Campground and Spa in Hot Springs NC

If you are looking for something a little more primitive but still a beautiful area, you might try Davidson River Campground in Brevard, NC

Welcome ! You're in one of our favorite areas. We like to stop on our way north in the wet spring. Mama Gerties top tier is pretty darned nice! We did that once because our 1st choice was full. Any direction is great for day tripping but we can't get enough of the waterfalls in the area. But most important is the stop to load up on Sourwood Honey that is specific to the area.
