Residential refrigerator ordered in a new 2500 RL ?

Really like the 2500RL. REALLY REALLY like to get ( order) it with a residential refrigerator. Is this possible ? The Whirlpool 10.7 cubic foot is pretty close on dimensions.

Nope, not going to happen.

Grand Design does not do any customization.

Dealer can do it or you could do it yourself. That is about it though.

You have two options actually (and I’m sure more). The Whirlpool is in a ton of trailers and as I understand a pretty good retrofit. However you then need a good sized inverter (and dual batteries likely) to run it as it’s 120v only.

There is also another company (Chinese of course) that make a 120v/12v full size fridge. I think it was Forest River Vibe’s or Connect’s that I found them in. I wrote down the model number somewhere.

However the Whirlpool was MUCH nicer and bloody huge inside. You just give up the gas feature but who cares when you can run it off the inverter and dual batteries when towing it.

Might be a future mod of mine as well.

EDIT: The Whirlpool was WRT111SFDM02 as I recall. Can even get an ice maker for it.

DC compressor refrigerators are pretty efficient and better that propane given a good DC source.

Other issue is getting the units in/out.

There are counter depth that will fit. This is one of the nicer ones that should fit in the hole and leave enough room so you don't bump the counter with the slide in.

You'd need to expand the hole slightly at the top and you could put a piece of trim if the sides don't line up perfectly. Pretty easy to do. The hardest part is getting the old one out. Those things are heavy.
