I'm confused. According to the spec sheet I have, the payload for a 2015 3500HD Duramax Crew Cab Standard Bed SRW 2WD is 4159lbs.

Chevy's tow capabilities are easily found in owners' manuals, but they're almost secretive about the bed capacity weight. I finally found a list online that said it was 4,000 lbs. for the SRW model. One would need to go by what is says on the door post. .
No matter what the spec's say, I still wouldn't want to tow a full size or large toyhauler with any single rear wheel diesel pickup. After loading the trailers, they often end up so much heavier than originally advertised.
When I was looking for a 5th wheel, I stayed with the Reflection models as that's all I'm comfortable towing with my 3/4 ton diesel pickup.

Hi Barbara & Dave,
Does the "spec sheet" number that you have, agree with what is on the driver's door or door pillar label that is specific to your vehicle ?

I am having a hard time finding the spec sheet for the 2015 Silverado's but if I can remember correctly it was around 4100# on the spec sheet and 3733# on the drivers door pillar.

Well you have no issues towing virtually anything you want.
I towed my 11K lb. Reflection 323BHS from Gatlinburg through the Smokies via I-40 and the Blue Ridge Mountains into North Georgia earlier this week. My F250 with a 60 hp tow tune pulled great, however 7% and 8% downhill grades are steeper than I like. I wouldn't think about going from Gatlinburg over to Cherokee through the National Park with my trailer, however.
Everyone that tows heavy RV's really needs to pay close attention to their suspensions, shocks and brakes--keeping them at 100% condition.

Our 2015 trips will be to Lake Lanier Islands, Stone Mountain Park and a state park 10 miles away. That's a max. 90 minutes towing.
We have to stay close to take care of a couple of grandchildren that are 3 and 7 years old.
We're fortunate to have our trailer stored in a wonderful member-owner campground in the mountains with 300 campsites, 2 pools and a huge party house. They move our trailer onto a lot and return it to storage when we go home.
I brought my old 31' travel trailer home this week to recondition and sell. It's 19 years old, and maybe has 1000 miles on it.
Have a great time on your big trip this Summer.

Bamaman, That sounds like a nice set up at that park. We have a granddaughter who lives on Lake Lanier. Can you recommend a nice clean park, near the water for kayaks would be nice, but don't need pools or other amenities.

It depends on where your granddaughter lives. Lanier's a big lake, and you can drive 60 miles trying to get around it. Off Buford Dam Road, there are a couple of Corp. of Engineer park campgrounds. East of Gainesville, you have the Olympic rowing competition area. I'd suggest you pull up the lake on Mapquest or GoogleMaps.com and find out what's close to your granddaughter. The parks are shown. Lake Lanier Islands have a campground or two, two hotels, two golf courses and a great water park.
It's visited by more people than any U.S. National Park.
