I had asked GD one time if changing the springs out could the sticker be changed. Gerry said no. He said that there is a government agency that comes out to certify the trailers once it is completed. Any changes made afterward would mean that agency would have to come back out to re-certify that trailer. He said there are a lot more factors of the trailer that is used to certify it. Getting it re-certified will not happen. Now with the changes being made before the trailer is complete would be reflected in the sticker.

    FWIW.
My 398M with the 8K axle option has a 21K GVWR vs the 20K the 7K axle units have. And I believe the limiting factor is the 21K pin box.

For everyone's reference, just found this on rvtrader. Proof that in-fact the GVWR does get increased with the axle upgrade from 16,800lb to 18,000lb.

This is exactly what we heard from GD. I asked about upgraded (24k) pin boxes, and got no response.

YES!, just received my 2021 395m with the disc brake option along with the 8k axles and the cooper tire upgrade, it shows very clearly on the sticker that my rv has 21k giving me 4976# ccc

When the upgrade is done when they are building the trailer it will be reflected on the sticker. They don't do the certification till the trailer is done being built.

    FYI...

    https://www.granddesignrv.com/shopping-tools/brochures

In the latest Momentum brochure, p.12, it specifically states that the 8k Axle option will upgrade the GVWR to 18k# on dual axles, 21k# on triple axles.

Just curious, but with the 8K axles, is there anything else different? Hangers, frame sizes, etc? Because, if not, it means that those of us with 7K axles can change over to 8K and gain the capacity, of course, not legally, but we could get another 2K by making the change. Very interesting.
