    Dubious Westlake tire record?

No tread separation or anything like that, but after 43 miles, I had to replace one.
I picked up a screw in the tread on my way home from the dealer on Aug 28th. Found it this morning when I went to check tire pressures prior to our maiden trip next week. 44 psi when it had 78 at the dealer.
Screw was too close to the sidewall to patch properly and safely.
Oh well, one down 4 to go.

Good job finding it before it caused a bigger problem. Now, if you could just accidentally leave a few screws laying around..... Well, you’d have them all replaced before long

So... how does a screw in a tire make the tire "dubious?"

I don't know if the Westlakes are any better or worse than any other Chinese tire.

But when I replaced my brand new Westlakes with Bridgestone Duravis R250 LT/E tires, there was a big difference. The Westlakes were so lightweight, and the sidewalls so thin in comparison.

I honestly don't know how such a crappy tire can be rated higher in weight carrying than my Duravis tires that are of very high quality. The U.S. Government has not been looking out for citizens with their ST tires on the road by the millions.

I sold my Westlakes online, and ended up paying $600 difference out of pocket--a great investment in safety.
