Broken leaf spring
Last week after getting some recalls fixed on my 2017 Reflection 27RL, I was literally just off the dealership driveway when I heard a crack and noticed the coach listing. I stopped and found a broken leaf spring. I turned around and returned to the dealership. After a few days they informed me that I would probably need new axles, leaf springs on both axles. Not worry I have an extended warranty. But they informed me they couldn't get parts until February because of a COVID backlogs. I found Dexter axles at E-trailer that were in stock. Has anyone else heard of this backlog?

Suppliers are struggling to provide components to not only RV manufacturers but other industries as well. Folks not working due to the virus is affecting this but I suspect there are other international challenges as well.
In fact I got a communication from a GDRV team member that the shortages are even impacting the release and production of some new models that Carol and I are interested in looking at.
What did your dealer share as to why you may or will need to axles ? I do not recall a situation over the years where a broken spring, spring hanger, broken shackles, etc, has resulted in the need for new axles. If not needed, I would get new springs from a shop that can make a set(s) for you.

I've had two discussions with the dealership and am a little PO'd with there attitude. They said there were 14,000 RV's back east ready to be shipped without axles. I called Grand Design and they said they are not having the problem and would shut down production if they couldn't get axles, but haven't done that. I called Dexter and they said they are 3-4 weeks out on deliveries. So I called our local Dexter supplier (Six Robblee's) and he said the same thing as the dealership....February. I am in a quandary. The dealership mechanic said the axle should be replaced, so I was hoping to go with 6000 lb Dexters instead of 5200 lb Lippert.

Pulling my 310GK from Livingston MT to Buffalo, WY, somewhere I broke the drivers side rear leaf spring. See attached Photo). Didn’t realize it until back on the road the next day from Buffalo to Loveland CO. Was able to install two cargo ratchet straps to the axle to pull it back in place. Couldn’t find an open RV repair nor mobile service guy as it was Saturday AM. Drove all the way to Loveland (~350 miles) and found a mobile RV tech: LQ’s RV repair…Dale is the owner and tech. 970-646-8126. Came to my trailer on Sunday AM, assessed the situation, said he could fix it. Got the part on Monday and installed on Tuesday. All for $357…a bargain in my opinion. I highly recommend LQ’s RV Mobile Repair if you are in need anywhere in the Loveland, Boulder, Cheyenne area. Great guy!Last edited by Brougherc; 08-02-2021 at 08:30 AM. I'm really impressed with your temp repair job, surprised that worked for that distance, thank you for sharing! (I hope I never have to do that)
