Need Advice
We have a 2150RB Imagine Travel trailer and currently tow it with a Colorado pickup truck.
We will be retiring soon and plan on doing more RV'ing out west and want to upgrade our tow vehicle.
We are trying to decide between a Silverado 1500 V-8 6.2L with max towing pkg or 2500. Any advice?

Skip the 2500 and get a 3500. It will give you an extra 1,000lbs of payload. Payload is everything when towing RV's. Ride quality will be the same when unloaded.

We towed with the Ford F150 for 3 years with a similar sized RV. Towed all over the west and northwest. Always felt exhausted and blown around after driving with the trailer. Found the truck was plenty powerful enough but lacked a stiff enough suspension for comfortable towing. Upgraded to a 2500 and BIG difference in secure towing with the same RV. Heavier truck, stiffer suspension, bigger payload. Didn't really gain anything in engine power but that was never the problem. 2500! Cheers.

I agree with the others.....its always better to with a bigger truck. I took their advice and went with a 2500 and have no regrets.

If you think there's even a slight chance of moving up to a fifth wheel in the next few years, bypass the 3/4-ton trucks and get a single rear wheel 1-ton. You'll save the depreciation on the 3/4-ton when you have to sell it or trade it in and the price difference between the two trucks is minimal (similarly equipped and optioned, of course).

Our travel trailer is only 27' and GVWR is 6,700lbs. Everyone says 1500 truck 6.2L V8 with max towing pkg will be fine but I was wondering if anyone had experience with similar set up with trailer and tow vehicle through the mountains.

I have a 2800bh. Heavier by 1000 pounds or so. I’m using a 2020 1500 6.2 w max trailering. Payload is 1809 on sticker. I have only pulled mine about 1000 miles total so far and has done great. No problem with power. More than you’ll need for sure. I could see where a 2500/3500 would handle it better but this truck does fine IMO. Totally different than my F-150 without max tow or my dads 1500 without max tow. Those 2 trucks definitely would make me get a 2500 if that was the next choice up. But the 1500 with max trailering seems to be. The ride unloaded is stiffer than I expected but not quite as stiff as the 2500’s. It is definitely more firm than mine or my dads without the max tow. This is a daily driver for my wife so that’s the biggest reason we went with it. If I only used it for towing I’d lean towards the 2500/3500 but would still consider the 1500 with max trailering. With a 6k pound TT I’d prob lean less.
We are going on a 4K mile road trip at the end of October. I’ll have way more experience with it after then and could change my mind but for now I’m glad I got the 1500.

I think the 1500 will do fine. There's no doubt the experience will be better with the 3/4 ton, but it's a big step up in price and it's a darn big truck to drive around when you're not towing. I have a Silverado 2500 now but towed 5,500 pounds with a V6 Durango for 5 years and had plenty of control (would have appreciated another 100 hp though, which you'll have and more). With the normal weight distributing hitch and anti-sway we went up and down the east coast and all over the Appalachians. You do get pushed/pulled by passing semis but the antisway takes care of most of it. And new trucks come with some built in antisway logic these days?
