Replace RV Fridge to Residential
Has anyone replace their RV style fridge with a residential style?
My Norcold 2118 uses so much electricity, to the point that at my seasonal site its an extra 50-60 a month just from the fridge, that I am considering removing it from my RV, selling it, and installing a residential style fridge that is much more efficient.
Any one done it before? Is it pretty straight forward, out with the old in with the new? Cap the propane line and be done with it?
Thanks.

There are a handful of write-ups on here from people that have done it. Try using the search function and you should be able to find some. I cant recall the wording of those topics, so start with generic searches like residential fridge install or something similar.

I think when my Norcold bights the dust, I'm going to do the DC compressor conversion on it. Something else to look in to.

Have you thought about a DC compressor frig. Apparently they are much more efficient than both absorption and AC residential.
Actually still researching myself but found a youtube video that gives a lot more info and even goes through converting a absorption unit to a DC compressor.
