Recomendation for 2016 Wintering in Florida
We just purchased our Reflection 27RL in December and spent the maiden voyage camping in Florida for the month of January. It was our 1st trip south, camping. We stayed at Williston Crossings, Willison, FL, Lazy Days, Tampa; Nettles Island on Jensen Beach, and Fort Wilderness, on Disney property. We liked and would recomend all of the above, but are looking for new venues. Not opposed to staying a month in one campground. Who knew we would want to become Snowbirds! All and any help would be appreciated. We are looking to book now for next January/February.
Thanks all........Tom & Jan

We just spent a couple of weeks in southern FL looking at "resorts."
We want to be south of Tampa/St Pete, so we focused there.
Our picks were #1 Riverside RV Resort & Campground near Arcadia (actually closer to Port Charlotte, I believe)
and #2 was Upriver RV Resort in Fort Myers. We're on the waiting list at both for Jan-March 2016 reservations.
They are both a little pricey, but we like the large sites at Riverside, along with a couple of other factors.
There are so many options in Florida that it is difficult to narrow down the choices.
May I suggest that you may want to follow the Facebook page (if you do FB) called "RV Park Reviews." They have some reference files and
you can ask questions of other members. There are, of course, the usual search/reviews options like rvparkreviews.com and rvparky.com.

We are hanging about the central Florida area . . . in State parks when we can find a spot and at a variety of private parks in between. We spent a week at The Glades http://thegladesresort.com/rv-rates/ which, so far, is at the top of our private parks list. Large sites, very quiet location, friendly people and reasonable rates. For whatever reason, they still had available sites mid-season. A better Good Sam discount than most places. Our row of sites even had a resident gator .
About the only negative was the distance to town . . . 20 to 30 minutes in either direction.

We have been in Tampa at Bay Bayou RV Resort and been very happy! We already made reservations for Dec-March. It is very well kept with lots of activities should you choose to participate. It is centrally located to Tarpon Springs and Clearwater. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Cate & Rob mentioned the state parks you need to make some early reservations and check them out. Elaine and I went to St. Joseph State Park last year and took our grandson Levi with us. It was only for a week but the park was great and there was some beautiful sunsets. Forgot the white sands

We enjoyed Seasons In The Sun, Mims, FL this past January. It's just south of Titusville. It's a great park with friendly neighbors, staff and plenty to do. You can stay as busy as you want with all their activities. We're going back next year we liked it so much. Two pools and a hot tub, clubhouse, free cable at all sites, free wifi (although it wasn't the best the staff said they were working to improve it.) While we were there we saw two NASA rocket launches. There's plenty to do in the area, but we also have family nearby so the location was good for us.

Florida has amazing state parks. Probably the most affordable RV sites in the state and usually large well separated sites. The downside is that they are so popular that you have to book 11 months ahead. There is a whole process of getting ready to select your site and pushing the "send" button at exactly 8:00:00 on the day the booking opens. Nine times out of ten, we don't get our first selection. But, the game is worth it.
