    Real World Pin Weight 337RLS?

Despite many searches on this and other forums, including web and You Tube, I have not yet been able to find an actual "ready to go camping" pin weight on a 337RLS fifth wheel. I understand the general rule is 20% of the GVW on the pin, but I don't trust that math much as most everything heavy in the trailer would be located ahead of the axles, including batteries/propane/fresh water/pass thru storage items and of course clothes/towels/bathroom items upstairs.

With a GVW coming in just a hair under 14k lbs--that puts me at 2800 lbs pin using the 20% standard. That seems rather light. I just ran through an estimate starting with the advertised pin weight of around 2090lbs dry, and added to that based on what I know will be ahead of the axles when I'm done loading it. I came up with just over 3500 lbs. This is getting to the point where it makes a difference whether I buy a 3500 SRW truck (3900 lb payload) or DRW that has way more than we need (over 5,000 lb payload) for this rig--and I'm wondering if I'm over-thinking this deal.

Anyone out there care to share what their (or someone they know) actual pin weight is on a 337RLS?

    Thanks!!

We are fulltime in a 2020 337. We moved all of our stuff from the old trailer to the new one and I weighed it.

    Pin weight 3100 pounds

    Hope this helps.

If you search this forum there are many threads about the 337 pin weight.

The posts are out there - don't know why you couldn't find them. We weighed our 337 many times and it was consistently between 3,000 and 3,100 lbs.

Here's one of mine but be aware that we only camp for one or two weeks at a time so the trailer is loaded lightly. I would consider this as the very low end for a 337. From CAT scales:

Truck. Full main tank, half full aux tank(20 gal), driver + pax + dogs. Andersen rail hitch

Trailer. 1/4 water tank. 1 1/3 propane, 1/3 gray tank, empty black, loaded for camping.

Truck 11,400 lbs, pin 2585 lbs, trailer axle 9100 lbs, overall gross 20,500.

My pin is similar to yours Steve @ 2,491 but I'm carrying less fresh water and all other tanks were empty of near empty.

We are at 3100lbs also. We are full timing in ours and I've been on a quest to get weights within spec. Hard to do with the wife but we have managed... barely.

    3/4 fuel , 20gal of water, wife and I, 50lbs of dogs
    Truck -
    Ft 4500
    Rr 6900
    GVW 11400

    Trailer -
    Trailer axle 10100
    Pin 3100
    TGVW 13200

    Truck and trailer GCW 22500

We have been heavier when dry camping and needed a full water tank. If this was a permanent thing I'd probably go back to a dually. Certainly 350/3500 territory though.
