Tracking Trailer Mileage

I am curious as to whether anyone has an idea how to accurately track mileage on the trailers. It would be nice to know when to perform maintenance tasks at certain points.

Man years ago we started a journal of our camping trips; where we go, what we do, places we see, etc. The first line entry is mileage to the destination. At the end of the year I can go through and add it up for a total. It's pretty accurate, I take the mileage off my vehicle trip odometer, or if I forget to reset it I'll just use mapquest or garmin mileage.

On our Ford F350, anytime you connect the 7-way connector, there is a screen on the digital display that records the miles towed while connected. If you ever trade your trailer, you can reset it for the new trailer. I also added 5650 miles to account for the three trips that it's made between the factory and Tucson. As of now, we have 14,700 on our 2014 337RLS.

Before the Ford, I kept a paper log book of the miles traveled.

TucsonJim - that is cool. I'm trying to wait 2-3 years for a new truck, but that's an awesome feature I didn't know existed. Guess I'll keep tracking our mileage manually for now.

You should see it under the towing menu/options under the EVIC.

I'm pretty sure that you need to have the built-in brake controller for this to show up.


If you see the screen showing the % of braking being applied then scroll to the right to get the trailer mileage.
