Towing a 31MB

I have a 2019 F250 6.2L, 3.73 and wanted to see if anyone tows a 31MB. I was trying to judge the tow capacity and think it might be to heavy since the truck is rated at 12,500.

I’m trying to do all the research before buying it or having to look closer at the 28BH. Currently have a Imagine.

For what its worth, my in-laws tow a 337RLS with their 2019 Ford F350 that has the 6.2L and 3.73 axles. That truck is actually rated to pull like 12,300. They tow a 17.5' fishing boat behind it sometimes too. Not saying i would do that but a 31MB is a smaller unit so seemingly not out of the question. Lots of factors though to consider. Where you plan to camp, how far you travel, how light/heavy you travel etc.

What you’ll really have to look at is pin weight versus your capacity. I won’t start a legal versus capable debate, but I do think that will be your limiting factor regardless.

I tow mine with the truck in my signature. It is rated for 14000 pounds (4.10 gears). My pin weight is 1968, while the truck is rate for 2688# cargo capacity. The max on the 31MB is 11995#. I know that I am not loaded anywhere close to that, probably right at 11,000 at most. I have no issues pulling that rig, although a couple of the mountain grades are a little steep around here (actually 3 of the 4 directions out of town are fairly steep grades). I can still pull them at about 55 mph, depending on the start I get. In most situations I struggle keeping the speed down.

Very relevant topic for me since I just bought a 31MB two weeks ago, and on our first trip this past weekend we stopped at the CAT scale. I'm towing with a Chevy 3500 SRW w/ Duramax, and Goosebox which weighs slightly less than a traditional 5th wheel hitch setup.

FYI, we have 2 adults, 2 young kids, a grill & 5gal water cooler in the truck bed, and then your "usual" gear inside the camper and pass through (kitchen-ware, clothes & personal items, chairs, utility equipment, camp chef & griddle, tailgate tent, etc.). Also had a 1/3 full fresh water tank to use the toilet and sink on the road.

Gross TV weight (both truck axles) was was 11,340. My truck curb weight (per sticker) is 8,325, so our real world payload was 3,015. Gross COMBINED total weight (all axles including trailer) was 20,420, so we were "towing" 12,095 pounds.

You'd be close to exceeding your truck's capacity just from a total weight standpoint, not considering your payload figures...

The 31MB is really 1-ton territory.
