Adjusting screen door latch

Can anyone give me a tip on how to adjust the rear screen door latch on a 2500RL? The screen door won't stay latched closed. If I put the steps in the travel position however, it latches just fine. When the steps are down, it won't stay closed. I've tried moving the striker forward and backward, it does not help. I don't see any way to move the latch closer to the striker either. has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

Can you put small washers or spacers under the striker plate?
