Condition of plastic disc on kingpin

As an RV newbie I’m not sure about the plastic disc on the kingpin...specifically, do I need to change it every X miles? How do I know when it’s “done”?

As always thank you for all the kind help. [emoji4]

As long as they're stopping friction, I use them until they crack or won't stay on the kingpin. I'd use the one in the photos for quite a while.

If you were getting squashed between two metal plates with 2,500 - 4,500 lbs. of pressure, you'd probably wear out, too.

Yes and our rig is on the higher end.

Our Solitude is in camp and we are at home for the work week. Do I need 10" or 12"? I would think the 12" would last longer, because if more sliding surface. KEN

Either will work. The 12" offers more load-bearing surface area.
