Trip route ideas near or starting in AZ

    Hi,

We are fairly new to Rving. We've done two trips thus far around 6 days long. I'm a bit intimidated about the whole trip planning process. I use RV Trip Wizard and Campendium. Has anybody passed by or started in AZ? If Yes would love to hear some of the routes that you've done. Also, any tips would be great!

    Thank you!

Be aware that I40 is pretty bad. There are spots they've "repaired", but even those are rough. But they're trying. We've camped in Quartzsite (both developed RV park and BLM boondocking). Also stayed at Kaibab Lake (again, dry camping).

Check out "RVer TV" on YouTube. He's based out of Arizona and goes to some pretty nice places close and far. Some of his details are off a little, but I've borrowed some of his adventures to add to some of our routes.

And of course, I fancy the Havasu area...a lot.

Arizona/Utah/Colorado line. Grand Canyon south and north rim, Zion (my favorite), Bryce, Capital reef, Vermilion cliffs, Monument valley, Arches, Mesa Verdi and others. Make a big loop. Where are you starting from?

I pretty much decide where I want to go and then plan the route. Then, if I have any specific questions about the route, I can ask here about the road/route. There always seems to be somebody who has done what I plan to do already and are usually very helpful.

RV Trip Wizard is helpful for finding campgrounds and will redirect you to CampgroundReviews.com if you press "more info" under the review section of the campground. It is also a good start for routing. I find I use the Smart Phone app AllStays Camp & RV app is my go-to place also as it lists fuel stations, campgrounds, low clearances, etc.

Half the fun is planning and dreaming.....

    Don't over-think it.
Planning is part of the fun.
Camp close to home first and then widen the circle. Go somewhere and check out other places while in that area with the truck.
