A few more questions
Hi Everyone,
A few more questions if you all don't mind, the forms have been really helpful to my wife and I with our new RD260.
So last weekend we did our first boon docking trip to the Grand Mesa National Forest here in Colorado (Amazing Weekend with fantastic weather), which prompted a few new questions.
1) When your truck is connected to your trailer and running is it charging your 5th wheel battery? Will your 5th wheel draw from your truck battery if you left the wiring plugged in to the truck?
2) What generator would people recommend? I bought the following but took it back after the weekend as it quit and refused one night to start till morning.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Firman-Whis...B&gclsrc=aw.ds,
We have a Honda 2000i which always runs so I am thinking of getting the Honda 2200i and doing the link for 30 amp service. There are 2 priorities on the generator I must be able to run the AC in hot weather and we would like it to be as quit as possible. The 2000i will not run the AC currently on its own.
3) Last weekend we were camped at 10,500' so it was cold at night, being Oct, do people just run the heat all night of the battery with no generator, I did and the battery held up but it seemed close. What would people consider to be the standard operating procedure?
4) Our camping season is now done and we do live in Colorado, are there any good descriptions YouTube videos that show exactly how to winterize a GD 5th Wheel?
Thanks for all the help we are really enjoying our RD260. Super happy with the choice!
PS - No sign of my new truck, I stopped and talked to the Chevrolet Dealer the other day and they suggest it could be spring

1. New trucks are getting strange. It use to be a simple - yes. Now the truck has to be running, a rig attached and then it charges. Well... at least mine. and for part 2 of your question.... on mine e=leaving the rig plugged in to the truck does not effect the truck and does not draw from the truck (although to keep things simple I always disconnect it).
2. Honda 2200i; you'll need 2 to run much more than just one A/C.
3. Add another battery (better yet - discard the wet cell and get 2 6V AGMs. or Lithium if you can afford it.
4. unsure
Welcome to the RV experience. It sounds like you're doing well with it.
