Battery bank in Gen Prep box

My new 390rk that I'm picking up this weekend comes with the Gen prep package. I don't intend to install a generator. I assume that there is ample support beneath that part of the compartment to support a generator, so is there any reason I can't mount my 4 6volt batteries in that area? And perhaps install my solar controls, inverter and transfer switches, etc in the same box whenever I get to that upgrade??

Pretty even exchange. The Onan is 275-280# and the batteries are around 260# give or take.

We're going into year three with 250 pounds of batteries there.

The floor of the compartment is a thin sheet of steel, supported only around its edges, with large pre-cut perforations for intake and exhaust ports on the the generator, yet as @geotex1 has pointed out it's designed to support the ~270 pound Onan 5500.

However to give myself one less thing to worry about I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood to fit the floor and spread the weight of the batteries across it.

Why not just do 2 or 4 lithium batteries and loose 1/2 the weight. KEN
