Well I searched their website and could not find the Ram test. Do you have the IKE results for the big 3 gas HD trucks?

The Ram title includes the word 'struggles' in it, the Chevy is a dog and the Ford is the class leader...seems like an easy choice. A few more dollars should be justified.
Gas mpg will be lower than diesel, but diesel generally costs more, so maybe a wash? I can see the ground looking into the engine bay of the 7.3, but the 6.7 is a 3D puzzle that fills the bay.
I've read that because the new diesels have so much power, the nannies have to pull it back much of the time. I would say that for 11k lbs and under, the new 7.3 is up to the task and will yield more payload capacity than the otherwise identical 6.7, so could maybe get away with 250 vs. 350 if need be.
To me, it seems like a step back going from diesel to gas, but 20+ years seems to have made a difference.Dan and Rita

Maybe, maybe not. What is the price difference let's say for a Lariat vs. the Ram equivalent?
Either way, new trucks are expensive, right?Last edited by Grandesigner; 10-29-2020 at 02:25 PM.

Lariat = Laramie, roughly.
If you compare a 6.4 Hemi with a Godzilla, the difference is $2,000 off the top. Laramie packages out a little better, so the practical difference is something like 3500-4000 probably total. Ram feels nicer. Opinion of course, but the 6.4 with the 8 speed is nice.
Having driven both, the Ram ride is better, by a fair amount, particularly in handling more than ride stiffness (which surprised me a bit).
In any case, you have almost caught up to me in terms of going back and forth on time spent thinking about this subject. I probably have 100 hours in to it. Thats scary.

When you are going to spend a big pile of dough, you should do your homework, good job!
I haven't driven either yet but will admit my bias to Ford as my current TV is still kickin it after 20 years. The trans was the weak link, but about $3500 over 20 years ain't bad at all. Had some surge using a tow tune that was corrected and some minor things that I could actually do myself!
In the end, you get what you like most and hopefully be happy with it or can modify until you are happy, at reasonable cost that is.
For the Ram, the 2500s come with the air system but not the 3500s, is that right?Last edited by Grandesigner; 10-29-2020 at 04:00 PM.

I am back with some follow up Questions.
Leaning heavily toward the 7.3 F250 that I mentioned up thread. It will have 5th wheel prep / pucks.
As stated in the OP, we are looking at the Reflection 150s, those that have the turning point feature (whether used or not).
Because of this, I'd like to steer clear of the AUH (although I like the AUH set up in general).
I'd like to steer clear of a slider.
I'd also prefer NOT to use the TP feature, generally speaking. If I don't NEED to use it, I don't WANT to use it.
So ... given that the ford SB is actually nearly 6' 10", and given the 150 Reflection series is fairly rounded up front, Am I setting myself up for failure if I decide to go with a Reese or B&W Companion style puck mounted "standard hitch"? I figure I can give this set up a try, and it it is not working out, can decide to use the TP feature which is known to be just fine with a bed this long. Add to this the fact that the Companion hitch can be "turned around" to push the pin back a couple inches, and I may squeak by without using the TP.
Also, am I correct that a sturdy B and W companion or a Reese is about 160 pounds total?

Can't say for the new trucks but my old one has never needed a slider or the TP. My shortbed may be smaller than the new ones.
My concern is bed floor and rail height and overall height if I consider a Tremor...Dan and Rita
