    Question Leaking/dripping ceiling vents?

    Hi all,
Just started fulltiming in our 311BHS two months ago and encountering cold weather for the first time. It appears that our ceiling vents are leaking, although it may be condensation dripping.

    Is this common? Any fixes/workarounds?

Thanks in advance for all your wisdom,

If your vents weren’t leaking during rainy periods, it’s likely warm, moist interior air meeting the cold, un-insulated vent surface and well. Although the gaskets are really lousy to begin with, somehow they seem to keep working no matter how ratty-looking they get. Most here will tell you to get a dehumidifier, as your windows are probably going to start streaming condensation as well. Probably the best idea, since you’re FT.

There are foam pillows available that are designed to insulate the vent wells. No attachments are necessary, you simply shove them in and the pressure of the foam keeps them aloft. They consist of a square of foam, zippered cover that is mostly fleece but one side has bubble-reflective plastic. Completely washable. They’re fairly inexpensive and available at Amazon or CW. Search for RV vent insulation.

Condensation 90%of the time. Crack some windows open and let it out.

Another vote from me for a dehumidifier. Since you are full time, maybe run the A/C fan on low once a day to circulate the air?? - not sure if necessary - maybe see what happens after you get a dehumidifier.

That is the good advice. We used to get that drip back in our Aliner days. Crack a window or even the vent that is dripping . Just a slight crack, just enough that you can feel slight air flow should take care of it.

Another option is to hang a
burning candle lamp a foot or so below the vent, the heat and airflow created will kep it dry.

Thanks all for the inputs. Think we'll be adding a dehumidifier, and possibly some of those foam pillows for the vents. A bit worried as we're currently outside Yellowstone, and it's about to dip into the teens at night.
