    Generator back to Shore Power

Newbie here.... We took our 21g out this weekend for the first time. Ran on Shore power all weekend. Before we left I wanted to get the generator running for a few minutes. I disconnected from shore before starting the generator from inside the rig. Turned it off from inside as well before we pulled away. Once we got home, I went to plug into the 110 to keep it plugged in while stored and it kept blowing the GFI on the plug.

Have you ever had it plugged into a GFCI protected outlet before? Some units have improperly wired transfer switches which create a ground-neutral bond within the trailer that causes a GFCI to trip.

Its possible the transfer switch is sticking. If you pop the cover off you can see if the contacts are open or shut for both sides.

Dealer told me to make sure EVERYTHING was turned off before shutting the generator down. I went back out and started the generator up. Made sure everything was off. Let the generator run for a bit before shutting back down again. Then hooked back to shore and all was good.

Not related to your GFCI problem but make sure you either run your generator out of gas by shutting off the fuel pump or drain the carb of gas. If not you may need to get a new carb down the road a bit. If you run your generator on propane disregard this post.
