    377MBS tow vehicle

New to the forums and planning to buy a lightly used 2020 377MBS. I know I need a 1 ton truck and was leaning towards a 2020 Ram 3500 SRW short bed w/ HO diesel. I know long beds are slightly better for turning and towing but I’d really prefer the SRW instead of the dually. What are everyone’s thoughts? Hitch weight on the 377MBS is 2,750 and payload is 3,745 from my I could find. Planning to use the Andersen Ultimate so hitch isn’t heavy and me, wife and kids weigh under 400lbs.

Welcome to the forum, well this is a loaded question but 20% of 16800lbs is going to be 3360lbs of payload, I know that the 2020 new trucks now have a 4+++ payload now. You will be able to do it on a new truck but you will be very close to max, if that were me I would want a 3500 dually. The rule of thumb is that you want to go no more than 80% of what you can tow and that will be very close but I'm sure that other will chime in with their comments.

I thought it was a 337, my mistake.

I use the Andersen Ultimate to pull our 303RLS and it works great. If your truck has a B&W 5th wheel prep, I would get the 4" offset ball and get a Reese Goose Box 20k Gen 2. Then you only need to pull a 5lb. ball out of the bed.

Advertised "hitch weights" are useless - they are empty weights. 23% of GVWR is a more realistic loaded pin weight for the 377MBS - 3,800 lbs. or a little more. Remember that the Solitudes are "wide body" or 101" wide. This can cause issues with cab-to-cap contact on short bed trucks. I would not be comfortable pulling that trailer loaded with a single rear wheel short bed truck... at least without a slider hitch. Especially since Ram's short bed is the shortest in the pack.

Right off the bat expect the hitch weight to go up close to 500 lbs after the huge cargo bins are loaded down..propane and water tanks filled. Add clothes...heavier mattress like we did and you'll see why I use a dually to tow our 377 with.

As others have stated I think you're missing that pin weight by at least 800-1000 pounds, no way I'd pull it with a SRW truck either.
