No worries - I am the same way. I had a 7.3 IDI and my brother still has one. Whats funny if you go to a Ford dealer and ask about the 7.3 they immediately think diesel too

    Good choice.

However as @FT4NOW has said you should get the factory hitch prep option. You seem very certain of your long-term plans now, but things change. You may want to sell the truck you're planning to keep "forever", and resale will certainly be improved with the option. Even more likely, you may come to appreciate the significant advantages of fifth-wheel trailers and want the easy installation and removal of the hitch that factory prep gives you for your fifth wheel.

    Never say never!

boyscout is very correct. Definitely get the 5th wheel prep package. It gives you the integrated brake control too
On edit @marlowefamily with the dually get the locking differential. Also get the camper prep package - the suspension extras than come with this make towing so much better and improve resale value too.

Just a note, the Ford duallys are only available with the limited slip diff not the electric locking one. I was bummed when I ordered my 450 last December but it seems to be a pretty tight limited slip. I guess they figure that with a lot of weight on it and you engage the locker you could spit some gears out or break an axle, the lockers definitely lock both sides up tight.
