    Remove/tighten shower drain Momentum 399th

Have a leak from the shower drain into the storage area. I imagine I have to take the drain out and put in a new gasket or plumber's putty, just not sure how to get at the backside of it. The hole for the pipe is way to small for a hand or to see what's going on. There also doesn't appear to be anywhere to lift up or move the board. I was thinking of maybe just cutting a window to get acessClick image for larger version.

I am NOT AN EXPERT. I DON'T KNOW if GD follows residential conventions installing the drain and DON'T KNOW if this will help you, but it's a wrench for unscrewing the drain fitting from the pipe.

If the drain fitting is screwed into the top of the drain pipe that tool should make it easy to unscrew it.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks boyscout. That turned out to be half the solution. I still ended up cutting out a bigger hole around the pipe to get to the backside of the shower. There is a nut there but you need some one on the other side with the drain extractor to also turn to get the nut off. Turns out grand design put the rubber washer on the wrong side and with a little plumber's putty the problem was fixed

Ugh, oh. Take warning if your drain was plastic because it will fail. Plastic drains are not compatible will plumbers putty. It will break on you. Plastic RV drains are set either with gaskets both sides or silicone and a gasket underside.

Our 2016 380TH shower drain had a long ( over 6 ft ) horizonal run with no support. It had the standard p-trap and of course it came loose from the vibration. It flooded the underbelly. I put the p-trap back together and installed a support strap part way down the long run. KEN
