no power when not hooked to shore power

Today we pulled our 5er home. Hooked up to truck. went to dump station. as i was dumping walked around camper noticed one back jack was down about a inch. Tried to retract but no power. Also wanted to put slide but no power. Was hooked to truck and marker lights worked. But no lights in camper anywheres. What is going on? Thanks Scott

It sounds like you may knocked the battery disconnect switch to the off position.

Check the battery shut off, if that isn't it pull the battery and check the voltage. If volts are good you got a bad convertor, fuse or loose ground / other wire issue. If no or low volts battery needs to be charged and could very well be toast. Make sure your charger/converter is good before replacing as that could be defective.

    How do you check charger/converter?

Probably a dump question? When hooked to shore power is battery switch ON or Disconnect position? And why? new to this.

Its kind of reverse logic, battery "disconnect" switch off = 12v power to RV. Battery disconnect switch on = remove 12v power to RV. It doesn't matter Just make sure the key is inserted and turned so that you can not remove it.

First check the power distribution panel, make sure the AC circuit breaker for the converter is on.
Now to trouble shoot the converter, take a volt meter measuring DC volts, put red and black meter leads on battery posts, matching colors, if you read approx 12VDC or lower the converter is not working. If you read 13VDC or greater it means the converter is working and supplying charging voltage to the battery.

Or to check right on the converter, use a DC voltmeter, gain access to the converter, most likely behind cargo basement wall, using volt meter measure DC volts on the output where the big red and black wires connect. If the converter is working you should read somewhere around 13VDC. If not use your volt meter, switch to read AC volts. Place meter probes in AC outlet converter is plugged into, you should read 110-123 AC volts. If you have AC volts into the converter and no DC volts out, the converter is bad.

If you have no interior lights when hooked to truck you have a 12V power disconnected somewhere, Just make sure the RV disconnect key is inserted and turned so that you can not remove it. Next check your RV battery connections, make sure they are tight. Use a meter and check RV battery for 12 volts DC.

Also when stored, disconnect the battery. The disconnect switch does not disconnect everything. Some items like the sensors are still on.
