Check Your Slide Out Roof Corners.

Every one of my corners on the 2 main slides had exposed metal susceptible to leaking/ The bedroom slide corners are wrinkled; I'll deal with those in a few weeks.

As far as I can tell the hole was created simply by all the sliding in and out and the wipers sliding against the thin tape GD put over the metal strip.

@traveldawg that is disappointing but thanks for the heads up. I will be sure to check mine as well. Just another thing to keep adding to my checklist of things that I need to keep an eye on.

I will havw to check out also. I just addressed some issues at the corners of the roof. Can the cheap stuff GD used on the slide roof be replaced with Eternabond or would it be too thick.

Interesting you should post this. I was just putting my slide out after doing my pretrip tire check. I noticed my slide has black tape across the top from corner to corner where the roof meets the flanges. The tape actually comes down the side about an inch. My wife always has slide duty so I never looked on top of the slides. The tape seemed to be plasticized and had a little cushion.

I’ve noticed some small cracking on a corner of mine but haven’t given it much thought. Now I’ll be added some eternabond tape like your last photo.

The seaming tape they're using is not as robust as Eternabond and gets rubbed through and dragged rather easily. My bedroom slide was just retaped while the box was out here at GD because one corner looked like yours. Perhaps real Eternabond is the best solution?

Eternabond will work just fine. I used it in a similar application on my previous trailer and it worked great.

Eternabond can fix anything roof related. It's the RV'ers "duct tape". Everyone should have a small roll tucked away for emergencies. KEN

We had this issue on all the slides on our 2019 Solitude 374TH. The metal flange that extends along the edge of the slide was cut just a tad too long and had a sharp edge. That sharp edge was wearing through the sealing tape when the slide was retracted. I used a file and a hammer to round the corner and smooth out the sharp edge then added a new layer of Eternabond over it.

Wow, ANOTHER problem for us to watch out for, along with our roof membrane peeling off on our 2020 solitude. We are so disappointed with this grand design purchase, we have had entry level RV's that have better build quality.
