    Electric Super Duty??

There have been lots of new electric vehicles on the market the last few years. Length of charge and trip per charge have gotten much better. Weight of batteries has decreased by about half. Motors have increased in power and it seems that with the incoming administration claiming possible shutdown of fossil fuel us RVers may have a problem. Is there a super duty type truck that can pull a 15,000-20,000 pound trailer 300-500 miles on one charge? The new lithium ion style batteries are low in weight (aircraft are using them now) and full power right up until it's not. Price is high, Battle Born charges $1k plus for each battery (12 volt). While this could keep the truck from being overweight I'm guessing we would lose storage space. Is 300 plus miles at one go out of the question? Could you charge the batteries from solar panels mounted on the RV and plugged into the truck battery? There is a thread from last year about an electric F-150, but I have not heard anything about the Ford truck. My knowledge of solar power is limited but have been reading that there are airplanes/helicopters in testing. Could this be done in five years? I worked a lifetime to be able to hook the trailer up and go anytime I want, so not ready to give it up. Any of you with backgrounds in electric vehicles know anything coming down the pipe yet?

That's a lot of questions but the answer to most of them is yes. [emoji16] lol
As battery technology increases in capacity and charge time and decrease in weight I can see it as a future standard. Its come a long way already.

There's still not an electric truck for sale. Deposits don't count. All that you read is hype until there is actually one on the road. The technology is still not where it needs to be to be anything more than a fad, regardless of what the fanboys try to tell us.

There is a difference between an electric truck and an electric truck that can tow 20,000lbs for 500 miles - and recharge to 100% in 10 minutes. That truck is many, many years away. Like 20+

Just a moment of devil's advocate because I have seen the graveyard of electric vehicle batteries here and abroad. If you consider the entirety of all aspects of electric vehicles, the mass balance if you will is steeply askew and not in the favor of environmental benefit or resource protection.

I said AFFORDABLE. Cheap once you get there, but getting to Tantueen is NOT cheap.

None the less, wouldn’t this be really, really fun?

From what I recall, Ford has stated they do NOT intend to electrify the Super Duty.

It will probably happen about the same time as the first flux capacitor is fully functional.
those who say "I can't", will always be right
