Just curious, then... why do my Sailun S637 ST235/80/R16 129/125L have "Maximum Speed 75MPH (L)" stamped on the side of them?

My tires have an L rating too. The article was written at a time prior to the newer st tires.

Who is the author of this document and what are his/her credentials? I tend to discount uncredited articles.

My point is if you are thinking about making the switch from ST to LT tires for use on your trailer don’t get caught up in marketing propaganda; look at the engineering and tire application facts before spending your money on the wrong tire for the job.
    What marketing propaganda?

I only see it from the ST proponents.
    Here are some facts:
Every single attribute that the ST proponents claim cannot be proven, as there is NO independant testing for any of it.
In fact the Govt. testing standards for ST tires are quite a bit weaker for STs compared to LTs.... This is a fact that can be PROVEN.
ST tires cannot be legally used on a passenger vehicle... It states this right on the sidewall.... But it is perfectly legal to use LTs on a trailer. This too is a fact.

In short, the only advantage a ST has is that it size for size, load range for load range is rated for more weight.... Though as I and many others have found.... Not very reliably. But if one wants to step up to a more reliable LT, one just needs to select a tire that meets the weight requirements of their trailer... Not particulally difficult... As for the price of making the swap.... How much will it cost when an ST tire gernades and damages your trailer? It makes the LT cost look small.

I recommend LTs , on trailers up to 14K GVW. (dual axle) or 19K (tri axle) Above that, one needs to take a hard look at commercial STs, such as load range G, H, etc. Though they are STs, they are not in the same league as their smaller ST cousins.

I ran a set of Michelin Ribs on my last fifth wheel. It maxed out at about 14k. Ran on them for about 5 trouble free years. They were a load range E tire. Compared the sidewalls to the cheap ST tires that came off. The sidewalls on the ST tires were like bicycle tires in comparison.
