Ramp locking handles friction disc replacement

    Anyone replace these?
Both have broken and fallen off.
Aluminum metal to metal rubbing isn’t going to last long without them.

Might just be a standard nylon washer.
I’ll hit Lowe’s and the hardware stores tomorrow and get back to ya’ll.

Well,, it's going to have to be a warranty issue at the dealer.
Disassembly to install is not that easy.
Finding a nylon washer in the correct thickness that jives not easy either.

I have had mine apart. One of the easier projects I have done. All that is needed is a center punch, a small hammer and maybe a pair of needle nose pliers.

    What is giving you problems?

As for the washer, I do not think the thickness is critical. You can adjust the handle to compensate for a different thickness.

I’m concerned if I knock the pin out may be difficult to get it back in securely.
On closer look I’m thinking the complete unit can be removed, disassembled, insert a new washer and replaced.

But mostly I’m concerned tapping on it it’ll deteriorate further.

You can remove it. Be aware, that the screws are self tapping into the aluminum, which doesn't retain screws all that well, and it gets worse every time a screw is removed and reinstalled.
In fact the reason I had mine apart is the factory stripped out the holes, and one of my handles fell off. I reinstalled it with large pop rivets. It worked great and will never pull out.

As for knocking out the pin, mine went back together tight. One could use some loctite on it if it was needed.

I may just order new handles and maybe use nutserts.

Nutserts will work. I actually have a bunch on hand. I chose not to use them on this. The rivets fit perfect in the existing hole. Using nutserts would mean enlarging the holes. So I elected to go with the rivets. That leaves the nutsert option still viable, if it is needed down the road.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking.
I’ll roll with rivets. Good idea.

I did rivets on mine as well. Lost a couple screws somewhere on the road. Might have been stripped from original install, I really don't know. Rivets worked perfectly.
