What amount should I be required to put down to have dealer order my rig?

We ordered all three of our Grand Design 5th wheels and put 10% down on each of them. That's what the dealer asked for so that's what we paid. We paid cash for ours as well so the amount of the down payment didn't matter to us.

Our dealer, Lazy Days Tampa, held it with a $1000 refundable deposit. But I should note that our trailer was already on order. Not yet built but LD had already ordered it from GD.

I would assume if the dealer is ordering it specifically for you, at your request then they may want a larger deposit. Especially if it has added options for you.

We also ordered from Lazy Days, Tampa and only had to put down $500 to make the order. We did have to put about 10% total down at time of delivery.

Our dealer asked for $3000 deposit. I put it on the credit card to get air miles (well, that was pre-pandemic). When we picked it up, I put another $3000 on the credit card for more miles. We always pay off our cc monthly anyway.

$500 refundable for me and the Imagine. Dealer said they were committed to buying it as soon as the order went to GD. But they had no fear of being able to sell it quickly if I backed out. These days, that would be x10. Only other expectation was that it got paid for, either by cash or by financing by someone, before driving it off the lot.
