Shoulder replacement surgery
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a shoulder
replaced and how long before you felt like towing your trailer.
I am scheduling this surgery for December and think I probably
need to cancel our January campground reservations.
Thanks for any feedback:

I think your doctor is going to have a say in this before any of us.
I tore my rotors in both shoulders years ago skiing. I had a lot of physical therapy and my shoulders are better then ever. That was almost 10 years ago.

I had a full tare done in July and went six weeks later. Limited use of that arm but no problem towing. What helped me I'm right handed and surgery was on left shoulder. DW help me set up.

I've had AC decompression on both sides, 3 clavicle breaks, and a clavicle resection (no more AC joint) after a 4th degree separation on the right. I know my shoulder orthopedic surgeon (and most of his staff) by first name.
Are you getting it due to arthritis? I'm struggling with bilateral osteoarthritis in my glenoids and am lined up for reverse arthroplasty as soon as it gets bad enough. My Dr. is doing almost exclusive reverse arthroplasty as he's getting the best results from it.
From the 3 people I've talked with (one reverse, the other traditional arthroplasty) all wished they'd done it sooner - so I guess it's a pretty good solution. The major recommendation I've heard is to make sure your joint & muscles are as flexible as possible before the surgery so the rehab goes quicker.
YMMV of course ..signature

Yes, from arthritis and bursitis. My Rotator
Cuff is in good shape, just bone on bone.
If rotator was bad he would do the
Reverse procedure. From your signature
I can probably Guess how your damage
Occurred.
I will report on post surgey.

The Dr. I use has been doing the reverse for just about all of them. He said he's been getting better long term results. (he also wrote a couple of papers on the procedure, so maybe he's a little biased)
And your guess would probably be right!
Please do. I'd love to hear how it works out.Last edited by jjbbrewer; 01-11-2021 at 10:42 PM.
