    ladder bike rack??

Evening everyone. Has anyone used a bike rack that attaches to the rear ladder? I need a way to bring kids bikes along. Sounds like I could get a hitch welded to the rear of the frame, but not appealing at this time.

    ladder bike rack

Any experiences or thoughts are appreciated.

    Thank you.

X2 ^^. Also, how many bikes and how heavy. The stock ladders on the back of RVs are usually rated for 300 lbs. max - and that's not counting the G-forces created while moving down the road.

I have a new Imagine XLS 21BHE and it would have 2 kids 24" bikes hanging from it. Mine will likely go on a roof tray of the TV.

Give Grand Design Customer Service a call and ask them what the ladder is rated for (if there's not a sticker on the ladder). If the ladder is rated for twice what the bikes and rack will weight, I'd be comfortable with it.

Don't even think about putting bikes on ladder rack of camper. It will pull loose from camper. With weight of bike and how far they extend out from camper puts too much force on ladder with all the bouncing going down road. The only thing that works on ladder of camper is empty portable dump tank stand straight up. Use ladder chair rack to prevent tank from sliding down ladder and racket strap and bungee cords to secure.

Consider this tongue mounted rack https://www.etrailer.com/RV-and-Camp....html?feed=npn

A front front frame mounted bike rack like the Jack-It or Straddler may be a better option. My only concern would be that it might impact or limit your turning radius. Meaning on tight turns the bikes might hit the back of the tow vehicle. We don't have a Bike rack either, but we'd like to add one some day.

Just returned from our 1400 mile trip from Huntington Beach with the Stromburg bike rack you posted mounted to our Solitude 310

This is NOT the 1st trip, it works flawlessly.

I also use a cable & lock to secure in case anything does come loose.
