We have one and like it. Small but does the job for two people. Very quite when it is running. Figured after spending that much money why not have one! We call ours the condo on wheels.

Can one be installed by the consumer and where does it go? Expensive?

The location is at the end of the kitchen island (entry door end). As for installation, getting it into that location does not appear to be too bad, however the plumbing and electric may be a different story! The factory install on mine is T'd off the sink hot water and also drain: accessible under the sink once the thin "wall" is taken out. Personally, I would have a reputable dealer do the job! Hope that helps[emoji15]
