    Norcold freezer icing up

I have a new 2021 Reflection 303rls with the 12 cu ft double door Norcold fridge. The freezer is developing ice in both sides of the freezer. This happens after just a day or two of camping. Is this normal for this fridge, or do I have a bad gasket or two?

    thanks

You likely have a seal leak. Or, the freezer doors aren't closing properly. On mine, I have to physically push the handle lock to make sure it secures and seals properly. Otherwise my freezer ices up.

If it's happening in just a day or two, I agree with @Walaby that you probably have a seal leak. Search Google for videos on doing the "dollar bill test" on refrigerator seals. On a side note, when we had an RV/absorption fridge, we cut inexpensive plastic cutting mats to fit the back of the freezer compartments (had to overlap two to get full coverage) and held them in place with the shelves. When it came time to defrost, pulling the mats out got 95% of the frost buildup and cut defrosting time to less than 10 minutes.

Thanks for the quick responses. Is there anything that can be done to fix the seal leak, or does the whole fridge need to be replaced?

Sometimes (if you're fortunate), it's a simple matter of realigning a door. Do the "dollar bill test" first and make sure that's your problem.

IF the seal is the problem, which I agree it likely is the cause. Contact Norcold and warranty the seal, no reason they can't send you a new seal for you to replace yourself. Replacing fridge seals is a fairly easy job.

Did you do the dollar bill test, or just blowing that recommendation off?

I agree, the dollar test will comfirm that is the issue and likely will be suggested by Norcold. Dometic suggested we try that with our old Atwood fridge before they replaced it.

I'm going to do the dollar bill test the next time I'm out at the trailer, which is probably Saturday. I'm definitely not blowing off the advice of the great people on this forum.
