    TV Remote & Televator

I’m assuming I can’t be the only one who has a issue with the remote working on the TCL televator while sitting in the theater seats. In order to get it to work you need to raise your arm up to get the remote to respond as you sit too low for the signal to get past the fireplace cabinet. Anyone have anything they’ve done besides raising your arm or standing up, it’s a real nuisance. Other than that we’re loving our new 310.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott

This is a very common and very frustrating issue. You have to remove the TV from the televator and raise it in the mount. Be very careful when removing the screws that you don't strip them. In both of my Solitudes I needed this to remove the screws:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also had to relocate the switch that raises and lowers the TV to the stereo cabinet from above and behind the TV. But, I've heard 2021 models come from the factory with the switch already moved to that location. So you have that going for you...

    Hey Brian,
Thanks for the quick reply and your first hand knowledge and solution for this issue. So if I raise the TV will it still sit flush when retracted? Also on my 2021 the up/down button is still in the cabinet above the TV.

    Regards,
    Scott

In my case, the cabinet does not sit flush over the top of the TV when the TV is lowered. But that's only because I chose to raise the TV a little higher so the remote worked a little better. I still have to raise my arm a bit but it's not too bad. The only time our TV gets lowered into the cabinet is on travel days so we don't care about the TV cabinet "lid" not being flush. Any amount you raise the TV is better than nothing. I will lower the TV a bit in the mount when we get ready to sell the RV in the future.

If your televator switch hasn't been relocated yet, that will be a problem as you will no longer be able to raise and lower the TV once you've moved the TV up in the televator mount. Moving the switch is easy. I just cut out a hole near the stereo and moved it to that location. I didn't bother filling in the original hole where the switch was because we can't see the void.

    Good luck.

Sounds like more work than I care to tackle. Also just dawned on me once I activate my Dish Trav’ler I shouldn’t have this issue as I won’t need the remote to the TV. Thanks for your input.

Brian - I think the screws are actually #2 square Roberts, aren't they?

Hi Rob. Mine were the funky double square heads. I had the #2 Roberts bit that is used for many other applications in the RV but I had to order the double square bit just for the TV mount.

This is a MUCH better solution! I'm going to order one of these and drop my TV down on the mount so the cabinet lid closes when the TV is lowered into the cabinet.

Check on Amazon for infrared remote control extenders. It is like a small Piece of plastic or glass it spreads the infrared remote signal off the remote and it shoots it off in many different directions. You can mount it in front of the TV on the fireplace cabinet and will work. The Remote pickup for the TV is just off of the centre on the very bottom of it which is why you have to pick up your remote above that level for it to be seen. But you won't need to anymore with the remote extender
