There is grease there but not sure when it got there or how good it was done, so I will be checking everything when I install the sumos.

Never had to do anything. When we finally got the 5th wheel and connected to the 2021 F350, diesel, LB, SWR, I had almost 7" of clearance to the bed rail. Using a B&W Companion hitch set in middle position. The trailer was ever so slightly nose high. I called it good and did not invest in new wheels and tires. I also looked at raising the trailer with blocks. https://www.trailerblocks.com/ If I had raised the trailer I would also look into adding MORryde X-Factor Crossmember supports. I like the idea of 16" wheels and heavier duty tires as the first step to getting the trailer higher. The bigger tires provide more payload safety margin.

Has anyone found suitable LT 16 inch tires, or does everybody just stick with ST tires?

Depends on your weight. LT tires don't have the carrying capacity of ST tires, even though, IMO anyway, LT tires are a better constructed tire.

What's the weight on your axles? Actual weight from the scales.

Well, 235/80-16 "E" rated LT tires should have a load rating of around 3,080 lbs. So if that 7,840 lbs. is for both axles, you could get by with 16" "E" rated LT tires.

I went to Michelin XPS RIBS in 2006. That was the end of my wasting money on ST tire failures. I had every brand ST tire there was as I believed the ST sales pitch.
I am sometimes slow to learn, but I do learn from my mistakes. I never had a single issue with The Michelin LTs. They are expensive but I was able to defray the cost by selling my used ones on CL for 300.00 a set. They sell fast. I am in AZ, so I get fresh tires every 5 years as that is about when they will start to deteriorate.
