Great input by everyone. After reviewing all posts, we’re planning the following route. Day 1 from Washington DC to Quinebaug Cove Campground, MA:
• Cherry Hill RV Park north to Hwy 29
• Hwy 29 North to I70 East to I-695, exit 91B (loop around Baltimore)
• I-695 to exit 24, I-83 North
• I-83 North to exit 51B, I-81 East
• I-81 to exit 89, I-78 east
• I-78 to exit 29, I-287
• 1-287 to exit 9A, I-684
• I-684 to exit 9E, I-84 east
• I-84 to exit 74 to Quinebaug Cove Campground
This route adds about 100 mi to Day 1 but seems worth it. Day 2 is only 335 mi via I-90 east to I-290 east to I-495 east to I-95 north to Hwy 1A to Acadia. Open to suggestions - thx.Dave & Sherri

Having lived in CT for 30 years and traveled to NYC many times (but never in an RV) I would strongly advise against going I95 through NYC. Find your way to I84 and go east on it. You will miss not only NYC but all of southern CT. I84 meets I95 at the CT/MA border just outside of Sturbridge, MA. (Worth a stop) You will miss a lot of traffic and headaches that way.
