    I visually check to insure that I am hooked....a gentle back-in to the pin, with the plates barely touching insures a gentle hookup. I only trust my eyes.

    I won't offer any more insight in this thread as I'm an idiot lol! I pulled mine to the dealer last Wednesday (about 20 miles) and as I went to unhook there I noticed the breakaway hook laying nice and pretty in the bed, forgot to hook it up! Oops
