Reflection 303rls / Thomas Payne Recliner Button Woes

I, like many of you, kept hitting the buttons by accident and even activating all three sometimes although I have no idea how. While I could probably live with the design flaw the wife was also experiencing this frustration and asked that I fix it ... like now. So here is my solution, pretty straight forward and, at least in the recliners I have in the 2020 303rls, the fit is perfect and still provides access to the buttons if needed. However, with this I did lose the ability to use the side cup holders, I don't mind since our coffee/tea cups didn't fit anyway.

Found a couple of nice Teak wood style trays at Homegoods for about $12 dollars, that was the most expensive part of the DIY. I like these trays over some of the others we found due to the lip around the edge, a bit more secure. The size allows for an oversized coffee cup and cell phone with ease (6"x9"). Anyway, real simple fix and so far they are holding up well. Not the best photos, but you get the idea!

Clever idea and looks good ! Thanks, for sharing the narrative and pictures. I recall a few folks doing something similar to have a place for wine glasses/other things as the cup holders do not work well.

They work great and totally eliminated the issue.

I like the tray's you made as well. Wish I would have thought of that.

I like the heaters, especially on a cool morning. I don’t use the other things.

Could you please provide more details about how you put this together. Many of us have been trying to find a way to have a little table for our beverages, phones, etc. We have the Thomas Payne recliners however our model year hadn't come out with the tables yet. I saw the storm drain and round black grate at Home Depot but not quite sure how you secured them to the table.
    Thank you,

My apologies for the slow response. I retired last week and had a ton of checklist stuff to accomplish before the Air Force let me go, not to mention all the VA stuff I'm still working on. So, as far as the assembly of the recliner mini-tables, really straight forward. I placed some set screws to keep everything together and used some rubber tape (it only sticks to itself) to help keep everything set in place (while still allowing the tables to turn as needed from side to side. If you notice in the first pic the "cup" is slightly offset, that's how I leveled the table since the recliner arm leans slightly inward. Here are some additional pics:
